This purpose-built studio unit is located within the residential block of King Edward Point Research Station in South Georgia, the territory's administrative capital. Constructed in 2009 to British Antarctic Survey standards, the unit measures 34 square metres and is designed to maximize warmth and efficiency in the harsh sub-Antarctic environment. Triple-glazed windows face Cumberland East Bay, offering dramatic views of snow-dusted peaks and frequent wildlife including elephant seals and king penguins. The studio includes a compact kitchenette, study desk, and integrated wardrobe. Residents share a fully equipped communal dining hall and lounge. Satellite broadband provides reliable connectivity for remote research work. Access to emergency weather shelters is included. Available to active BAS-affiliated researchers and approved South Georgia & South Sandwich Islands government personnel only.
